Women's Fellowship

1st Pres Church Circle Group

Women's Fellowship is a Bible Study Fellowship of ladies in the First Presbyterian Church.  We meet nine months a year (Jan-May and Sept-Dec) on the 2nd Wednesday of the month.

Time:  9:00 – 9:30 Fellowship & light refreshments

9:30 – Bible Study (followed by a business meeting)

Members share the responsibility of hostess, who is responsible for light refreshments and a short devotion.  The meetings are held at either the hostess’ home or the Fellowship Hall of the church.

Membership is extended to all who desire to be a part of this fellowship.  Bible study books are provided for each member.

There are two ministries we actively support:

1.  Monthly “Jubilee Birthday offering” (as we pass the sock! – to support ARP women’s missionaries.)

2.  Christmas Offering to support the missionary work of Francie G. Milligan.  Francie grew up in our church.  She and her husband, Dave, have been active in outreach to the Muslim world for 32 years.

We welcome you to be a part of our fellowship of care and concern as we endeavor to learn and live to better serve our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Youth Ministries

1st Pres Church YouthThe First Presbyterian of Frostproof Youth Ministries is centered around discovering who Jesus Christ is, developing a relationship with Him, and then growing in His Word and Light.  Our mission is to reach as many students as we can with the truth of the gospel and aid them into developing a personal and deep relationship that leads to a life devoted to the Son of the Almighty God and then going out and sharing that truth with all they encounter.

“Go out and train everyone you meet, far and near, in this way of life, marking them by baptism in the threefold name:  Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.  Then instruct them in the practice of all I have commanded you.  I’ll be with you as you do this, day after day after day, right up to the end of the age.”  Matthew 28:18-20 (The Message)

We meet every Wednesday from 6:00 – 8:00 P.M. in the Church Office for Bible Study followed by a time of fellowship.  This dynamic ministry is lead by Phillip Stegman, a sophomore at Warner University, and is for Middle School – High School.

We also meet each Sunday at 9:45 A.M. for Sunday school at the Church Office.

Leaders in Stephen Ministry

The First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof is pleased to announce that two of its members, Sara Bogart and Martha Neher, have recently completed the Stephen Ministry Leadership course as well as the class for the Spiritual Gifts Inventory.  Sara and Martha are now qualified to train Stephen Ministers and are preparing to set up a schedule for training which will probably begin in the fall.  The Stephen Ministers will go out into the Community to care for people in their time of need.

Stephen Ministry is a trans-denominational caregiving ministry developed by Stephen Ministries in St. Louis.  Begun in 1975, Stephen Ministries is now in use in 10,000 congregations from 150 denominations.  The Stephen Ministry will be conducted under the leadership of Rev. William “Buzzy” Elder.

We expect our Stephen Ministry to be a source of warmth, care and blessing for many years to come, enabling the entire congregation to grow as a nurturing community where people are cherished and cared for and their needs taken seriously, all in the name of Jesus Christ.

If you are interested or have questions about the Stephen Ministry, please contact Karen at 863-635-3955.

1st Pres Church Knitting Group

The Presbyterian Purls is a group of ladies who began meeting over 5 years ago to knit beautiful, one-of-a-kind, sweaters for Guideposts Knit For Kids Program, a ministry of World Vision.  To date they have knitted over 300 sweaters that have clothed needy children all over the world.

They meet each Tuesday at 9:45 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. at the Church Office.

Anyone who knits or would like to learn is welcome to come join this ministry.  Yarn is provided.

Bible Study at 1St Press

1st Pres Church Bible StudyWe began a new Bible Study on "A Systematic Study of the Book of Acts" on March 3, 2016.  We meet two different times during the week and we cover the same material each time.  We meet at the church Sunday afternoons at 5:00 P.M. and Thursday mornings at 9:30 A.M.  Our Bible Studies are open to all in our church and to any and all from the community.  We have varied in the type of studies that we have used in the past.  However, we have found that a simple method of fill in the blanks, true/false questions and matching phrases and words seem to give the student motivation to study each and every chapter more closely.

In addition, the teacher prepares a commentary that parallels the chapter being studied to give the student a different perspective on that material each week.  Not only is preparation encouraged for everyone who attends, but we highly encourage each member to share in their thinking as well.  All in all, it makes for a great time of fellowship and learning more of God's Word in a way that each student can participate.

Even if you were not there for the beginning of the class, there is so much to learn from each book of the Bible, you will never be far behind.  In an effort to keep every student up to date on the work we have done, each class is recorded and can be sent to your home so that you don't miss a thing.  Even if you live far away you can still participate!  Student books, C.D.'s, and additional commentaries are always available.  Please call Rev. Elder for more information at 863-635-3955.
