Mission & History
OUR VISION
Being rooted in Christ and His Word, we exist to bear lasting fruit for the Kingdom of God and to be a resting place for the weary.
Psalm 1:1–3 — Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the wicked…but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and on his law he meditates day and night. He is like a tree planted by streams of water that yields its fruit in its season, and its leaf does not wither.
Isaiah 58:11–12 — And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.
John 15:7–8 — If you abide in me, and my words abide… By this my Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit and so prove to be my disciples.
Psalm 46:1 — God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.
Jeremiah 31:25 — For I will satisfy the weary soul, and every languishing soul I will replenish.
Matthew 11:28 — Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.
OUR MISSION
The mission of First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof is to welcome all who enter and to learn from the Scriptures, grow in faith, share in hope, and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
Martin Luther said, “This life, therefore, is not righteousness but growth in righteousness, not health but healing, not being but becoming, not rest but exercise; we are not yet what we shall be, but we are growing toward it; the process is not yet finished, but it is going on; this is not the end, but it is the road; all does not yet gleam with glory, but all is being purified.”
This is a good reminder for what we are and who we want to be in Christ. Therefore, we seek to glorify God in all we do and to be a witness to the world of God’s unfailing goodness, grace and mercy. And we want to be a palace of encouragement and growth for those who enter into the doors of our church.
We are a church rooted in the Word of God, flourishing under the Lordship of Jesus Chirst, and Fruitful for the Kingdom of God.
OUR HISTORY
In 1905, a small group of Christian citizens realized the need for a place to worship. After much prayerful thought and work a memorable day came when there was organized a church to be known as “The Church Among the Lakes” with eleven charter members. As membership grew the little church changed its name, and was known as the “Union Church” until 1915 when it became known as “The First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof” as a member of the Presbytery of South West Florida, U.S.A.
First Presbyterian Church of Frostproof joined the Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church (ARPC) on February 28, 1982. Our church is a member of the Florida Presbytery. We welcome all who enter as we learn from the Scriptures, grow in faith, share in hope, and spread the Good News of Jesus Christ.
